"We blind tasted prunes from five farms in three countries before selecting our richer, darker and, well, more 'pruney' prunes. Each plum that becomes a prune is gradually dried allowing moisture to be coaxed out slowly, creating a tastier, more decadent prune as the sugar caramelises."
How it's grown
In the largest mountain range in Serbia nicknamed the 'Mountain of the Sun', you’ll find an area blessed with on average 200 sunny days a year, with fertile organic soils and numerous microclimates which are perfect for growing plums. It’s here that you’ll find around 100 small family-run farms growing plums and drying them into prunes.
As well as being absolutely delicious, prunes are a good source of fibre, which is important for digestive health.
