Meet the product development team
Sophie is Head of New Product Development at Little Freddie. Working closely with our nutritionist, Jo, Sophie and her team come up with recipes that are innovative, nutritionally balanced and properly delicious – with the help of her two young boys who taste test every recipe along the way!
“As a child, I could often be found in the kitchen helping my mum transform our homegrown produce into delicious family meals, so it seemed inevitable I would pursue a career in food. When the opportunity came up to launch new products for a baby-food brand that aligned so closely to my personal food values, it seemed like fate.''
“I know first-hand how weaning can be a really fun, exciting journey but also, too often, a really stressful one. I had been really disappointed with the baby food available in the supermarkets – both mine refused to eat most of the tasteless, gloopy food available and when I tried the food for myself and read the ingredients on the back of pack, I wasn’t surprised.
I really believe that baby food can, and should be, better: great tasting, nutritious and genuinely exciting.”
Florence was born in Mauritius where she was raised on a diet fusing the best of French, Indian, Chinese and Creole cuisine.
She studied food science and innovation in Lille and, after working in Paris and making her way across its many eateries, Florence moved to London to join Little Freddie where she channels her love for food from across the world into the recipes she develops from scratch in the kitchen.
Her uncompromising standards mean that all her recipes always taste homemade.
Jessica is our Little Freddie Product Developer. Her foodie journey began when she was a teenager and discovered she was intolerant to a number of ingredients.
A firm lover of food, she committed herself to recipe experimentation, label scrutiny and a serious love of baking.
After graduating with a degree in food science, Jessica chose to join Little Freddie where she could combine her interest in health and nutrition with her relentless love of food.
When she was little, Sophie could always be found in the kitchen sitting by the oven waiting to taste test her mum’s latest concoction. Her love for food has only grown since childhood; she is always cooking up new and interesting recipes with a twist, in constant pursuit of new tastes and food experiences. It’s this love of food that led Sophie to study Food and Human Nutrition and build her passion into a career.
Over the years, Sophie has developed new products across a range of vastly different sectors but has found a real love for creating tasty and nutritious products for babies and toddlers.
In her downtime, you’ll find Sophie looking for the next new restaurant to visit or catching up on food documentaries.
Our product development checklist
Every single time we start developing a Little Freddie product, we ask ourselves:
- Would I be happy to give this to my own child?
- Do I enjoy the flavour, texture and aroma? If not, then why would a baby?
- How can we make the recipe as balanced and nutritious as possible?
- Is every ingredient absolutely necessary?
- Will this product make life easier for parents?
